Isabelle Buret got a master degree in Space telecommunications from Telecom Paris Tech in 1990. After a first experience in Japan as the first woman to work in the space laboratory of NTT, she joins Alcatel Espace (today Thales Alenia Space) to take part to the birth of one of the first Low Earth Orbit mobile satellite communication system, Globastar, and, next, to the introduction of the first digital on-board processors for multimedia communications. She is then proposed to take the lead of R&T activities in satellite telecommunication systems. For more than 10 years, she will foster the study and development of new satcom system techniques and technologies, before taking the responsibility of the Telecom R&D and product policy of the Thales Alenia Space J.V. Motivated by challenging and unique space programs, she joined, last January, the Iridium Program Management Office as Program Design Authority. Isabelle is also member of the board of the TéSA laboratory and of several scientific orientation committees.
